I will begin by saying that pot racks have been used as far back as the 1400's. Back then pot racks were mainly used by lower income families because the kitchens in their homes were small with little to no extra space. These early versions of pot racks were hung on hooks from either the ceiling or one wall in the kitchen. There also were versions that were tripods with hooks for pot and pans, which were placed in one corner of the kitchen floor.

Feet: Available “feet” options include retractable anti-tip feet to stabilize mid-to top-heavy loaded racks; casters that attach to the bottom of server cabinets to help maneuver racks; and levelers that should be used if casters are implemented to ensure that the rack remains level once it has been moved from one place to another.

Rust can be quite sneaky and hit when you least expect it. Even a rack that is only used for short periods and is taken down afterward is susceptible to rust -- if it rains while you are using it or while the rack is stored in the bed, water can get trapped in the little joints and crevices, and over time cause the rack to rust.
