I will begin by saying that pot racks have been used as far back as the 1400's. Back then pot racks were mainly used by lower income families because the kitchens in their homes were small with little to no extra space. These early versions of pot racks were hung on hooks from either the ceiling or one wall in the kitchen. There also were versions that were tripods with hooks for pot and pans, which were placed in one corner of the kitchen floor.

Rack air conditioners are generally not used in traditional datacenter environments that have adequate CRAC systems. However, if IT equipment will be placed outside of a controlled datacenter environment, such as in a warehouse or factory, rack air conditioners are sometimes used. It is important to keep in mind that rack air conditioners are intended for use in industrial and large spaces, they generate condensation and noise, and they exhaust hot air into the room where the enclosure is located. In a large room, the heat will dissipate. In a smaller room or confined space like a closet, the exhausted hot air from the AC unit can cause the room to overheat. If an AC unit is used in a small room, measures must be implemented to exhaust the hot air from the room. Air conditioner models differ in the amount of cooling output they can provide, so select one appropriate to your needs.

If you don't plan on taking down your ladder rack once it has been installed, a permanent installation will be ideal for you. Permanent installations are more secure, and may offer greater load bearing capacity and reliability than temporary or quick installation racks. However, they also require drilling and therefore may need to be professionally installed, which generates more expense. Additionally, drilling holes for installation cuts through the truck's painted finish and exposes the metal underneath, making the bed susceptible to rust.
